Virtual company at the coffie table


The visitor lies in a bed with a virtual person which is reacting on the visitors behaviour

Digital technologies seem to promise that all our dreams can come true in unlimited communication, non-friction fulfillment of all needs and absolute creativity.
To oppose this tendency and to force collaboration between different artistic approaches we adopted the dogma tradition from the film (Lars von Trier) into the digital art.
The artistic freedom are to be found in restrictions and limited possibilities. Therefore we sat down 6 rules for the exhibition >Ff6b< at Gallery Image, Nov. '06:

• Laboratory - not an exhibition
• The visitor as creator
• Only LIVE audio/visual data
• Only recycle codes
• Max 1000€
• Break Down every 3. minutes

The project >Ff6b< is made in collaboration with Anne Dyhr, Falk Heinrich and Signe Klejs under the aegis of Kunstnernes Kooperative ApS.

"The visitor is in contact with the room and its interior. In the living room is a TV where you can activate live transmissions with your voice, and in the dining room you can drink coffee of virtual cups.The bedroom is the most intimately - when you lay on the bed, you'll see your sleeping virtual bedmate. If you are moving closer the other person turns around.
Suddenly the system breaks down and the experience is disturbed and disappears.."

Digital teknologi synes at love, at alle vores drømme kan gå i opfyldelse i ubegrænset kommunikation, manglende friktion, opfyldelse af alle behov og absolut kreativitet.
At modsætte sig denne tendens, og at tvinge til samarbejde mellem forskellige kunstneriske tilgange vi vedtog dogme-traditionen fra filmen ind i den digitale kunst.
Den kunstneriske frihed er at finde i restriktioner og begrænsede muligheder. Derfor satte vi 6 regler for udstillingen >Ff6b< på Galleri Image, nov '06:

"Den besøgende er i kontakt med rummet og dets indretning i stuen er et TV, hvor du kan aktivere live transmissioner med din stemme, og i spisestuen, du kan drikke kaffe af virtuelle cups.The soveværelset er den mest intimt. - når du lå på sengen, vil du se din sovende virtuelle bedmate. Hvis du flytter tættere på den anden person vender sig om.Pludselig systemet bryder ned, og den oplevelse er forstyrret og forsvinder .. "
